GET TO KNOW:

DEAN JOHNSON

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR

Tell us a bit about yourself.  When did you come to First Lubbock?

I joined First Lubbock in 1990, and I came on staff as Director of Facilities in 1994.  Janice and I were married in the First Lubbock Chapel in 1991.  We have two sons, Miles (who is getting married in January and is a graduate student at the University of Georgia) and Luke (in his second year at Dallas Baptist University).  Fun fact:  I am completely ambidextrous.

What was your childhood dream job?

Growing up in the 60's/70's, I wanted to be an astronaut or professional athlete.  Funny thing though, you had to have a very high GPA to be an astronaut, or have a great deal of talent to be a professional athlete.

What's your favorite place you've visited?

Any place that I've been with my family.  We love to travel, and we've been very blessed to get to travel all over the country together.

Other than Jesus, what historical figure would you most like to meet?

Bobby.jpg

I've always been interested in history, especially historical events like the Titanic, World War II battles, and the Alamo.  I think I would like to visit with Travis, Bowie, and Crockett.  Imagine sitting down with David Crockett and finding out what made him do what he did.  Where did the courage come from?  How did he battle through the fear, and who were those around him that encouraged/motivated him to make a stand?

What are a few of your hobbies?

Golf is my #1 hobby.  I also enjoy hunting with my boys and traveling with my family.

What do you love most about First Lubbock?

Opportunity.  The opportunity to hear the Word of God, to know and love Christ, and to serve others like Jesus would.

What would you say to a guest to encourage them on their journey to finding a church home?

It doesn't matter who you are, where you came from, what age you may be, or where you have been.  You are welcome.  If we can help with anything, please let us know.
