John 4:23-24

We are in a season of seeking the Spirit’s guidance in the search for our next Worship Pastor. Here you can find information about the process, as well as be challenged to pray for the church, the search committee, and the one God has called here.

Feel free to contact the committee at wpsc@firstlubbock.org

  • July-September
    PREPARATION

This is a time the committee is meeting with the consultant and amongst ourselves to work out the details and preparations needed for the listening sessions, communication, and other necessary components to finding our next worship pastor.

  • October-November
    LISTENING

This will be the time when our two listening sessions will be conducted. We will collect and evaluate the feedback received to help us better learn about how worship is viewed and valued at First Baptist Church Lubbock.

Registration for both listening sessions is open. The committee encourages all members to attend both sessions.

  • December-January
    BUILD WORSHIP PROFILE

With all the information received from the listening sessions and meeting with our consultant, we will build the worship pastor profile that best fits our church and guide us in searching for our next worship pastor.

  • February
    SEARCH AND INTERVIEW

We will begin looking at resumes and recommendations to fill the position.

WEEKLY DEVOTIONALS

Our goal over the next seven weeks is to purposefully dedicate ourselves to listening for the desires God has for our church. A phrase you may hear many times in the upcoming weeks and months is: God’s Will. Nothing More. Nothing Less. Nothing Else.

This season of listening together for the voice of God has the potential to bring greater unity to our congregation, greater strength to our ministries, and more passion for God’s Kingdom than any one of us can imagine.

After a season of listening to God together, we will have opportunities to listen to each other. I’m excited to hear from you about your passion for worship, the moments in church when you have felt close to God, and your hopes for passing along our enthusiasm for God to the future generations who will worship at First Baptist Church Lubbock.

As you pick up this devotional book, please remember to say a prayer for those who are giving direction to our discernment and decision-making process. You can find information and receive updates from our search committee at this website:

An additional resource that we have found helpful is the book The Voice of Our Congregation by Terry York and David Bolin. I encourage you to find a copy on Amazon.

Most of all, I ask you to enter these seven weeks with an open Bible, an open heart, and a willingness to hear whatever God may say to us. May our desire together simply be: God’s Will. Nothing More. Nothing Less. Nothing Else.
